Tennis Guide München

Where to play Tennis in München, a beginner friendly guide.

Munich has plenty of tennis courts, but knowing where to play, especially as a beginner or non-member isn’t always straightforward.

If you’re new to the city, or just getting started with tennis, this guide will give you a simple way to begin.

1. Public Tennis Courts (Best Place to Start)

For most people, public courts are the easiest and most flexible option.

You don’t need a membership, and you can book courts online.

The main options in Munich are:

  • Olympiapark Tennisanlage

  • ZHS München (University courts)

Although not public courts, these courts are also friendly to non members and are great places tgo play Tennis.

  • Tivo

  • Padel City Tucherpark

These courts are ideal if you:

  • are just starting out

  • want flexibility

  • don’t want to commit to a club

One thing to know, most courts can only be booked around 7 days in advance, so sessions are usually arranged week to week.

2. Tennis Clubs in Munich

Munich has many tennis clubs, and they can be a great option if you want a more structured environment.

However:

  • membership is usually required

  • coaching is often organised internally

  • availability can be limited

For regular club players, this works well, but it’s not always the easiest way to get started.

3. The Main Challenge in Munich

The biggest challenge isn’t finding tennis courts — it’s getting started simply.

In most cases, you need to:

  • find a court

  • organise coaching

  • align schedules

All separately.

This can make starting feel more complicated than it needs to be.

4. A Simpler Way to Start

The easiest approach is:

  • start on public courts

  • keep things flexible

  • focus on building a solid foundation

For beginners and early improvers, the key is:👉 repetition👉 consistency👉 confidence

Working with a coach can speed this up significantly, especially in the early stages.

5. How I Work (Simple Setup)

I work across public courts in Munich, mainly:

  • Olympiapark

  • ZHS

  • Tivo

  • Padel City Tucherpark

Sessions are arranged week to week, depending on court availability.

This keeps things flexible and easy to organise.
